
CHARM OF LOMBOK FROM HEIGHT
Lombok is a paradise for tourist destinations. Almost all corners in this area have extraordinary natural potential that invites admiration. On the island of Lombok which is geographically part of the Province of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), there are five administrative governments namely Mataram City, West Lombok Regency, East Lombok Regency, North Lombok Regency, and Central Lombok Regency. Each of these areas has excellent tourist destinations that even famous to foreign countries.
Lombok, which has the nickname of Spicy Island, is more closely related to the jargon of the Thousand Mosques Island due to the majority of the population is Muslim. The mosque is considered a religious power and cultural representation, so it is very easy to find it within a close distance, which the number of mosque reach 3,767 units in 2021.
Various tourist attractions located in the plains, hills, mountains to the coast exist in Lombok which has an area of 4,739 square km. Now the tourism potential in the area is increasing, namely the presence of the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
Various final preparations at the Mandalika Circuit, nicknamed Speed Land, continued to be worked on. In the future, world-class motorcycle racing events, namely Superbike and MotoGP, can finally be held again in Indonesia after the 90s era. Mandalika becomes the host of the prestigious racing event. This confirms that Lombok tourism is a combination of "sport tourism" with "ecotourism" namely the natural exoticism of southern Central Lombok.
The grace of beauty apparently does not end there. There is a cluster of small islands like pearls that surround the shell of Lombok Island, or more familiarly called Gili by local residents. From Rattan Gili, there are three small islands that have been crowded with foreign tourists in recent years. Yes, that is Gili Trawangan, Gili Air and Gili Meno. Tourists can explore the beauty of the underwater world by snorkeling and diving.
Moving on to "mountain tourism", Mount Rinjani which is included in the "seven summit" is a favorite destination for tourists who like to test their adrenaline. With a height of 3,726 meters above sea level, the magical Rinjani is also unique with a caldera containing Segara Anak lake and an active 'tiny' volcano in the middle, nicknamed Mount Baru Jari.
From many new destinations on the island of Lombok, Senggigi can be called a destination that has been famous earlier. White sand and clear sea water become the tourist magnet who majority came from abroad to relax while sunbathing. The distance is also relatively close, only 10 kilometers from Mataram City with a distance of about one hour from Lombok International Airport.
