ABANDONED VILLAGE

Cigobang town was leaving silence and the occasional chirping of birds could be heard, Banjarsari village, which was already uninhabited due to flash floods and landslides on January 1, 2020 in Lebak Regency, Banten.

The disaster a year ago forced 154 householders to leave their homes to settle in temporary shelters (huntara).

There are about 20 houses that are still standing but some of them have been destroyed due to neglect, as well as items such as refrigerators, clothes, chairs, televisions, tables, mattresses, and cars that have been damaged and filled with vines.

Even though, the condition of Cigobang town has been uninhabited for the past year, it turns out that there are still some residents or victims who come to visit the town to heal their homesickness and look for valuable items that are left over.

"I am looking for items that may still be collected here," said Riky (29) a disaster survivor whose house was also destroyed by landslide material.

The disasters' victim used to return to their homes during the day, when night fell the village was quiet and no residents dared to come at night.

There is no longer any effort to reorganize life in Cigobang Village because the area is in a red zone which is prone to landslides and is not suitable for residents to live in.
